FES Moderates Panel at DMV's Largest Annual HBCU College Fair

Fletcher Education Solutions has been invited back for the fifth year in a row to moderate the "Mixed Up, Messed Up" panel for prospective HBCU students. The panel will showcase the challenges many first year college students face and best practices for overcoming them. From managing your time and studying to making money stretch and staying emotionally healthy, this panel is an opportunity for every students to learn valuable lessons ahead of enrolling in college.

Tina and Trina to Speak at the University of Central Arkansas

Trina Selected as Keynote Speaker for Verizon Foundation's Girls STEM Camp

Trina served as a keynote speaker for a group of young girls attending the Verizon Foundation's STEM Camp for girls at the Paul D. Camp Community College. Tina and Trina Named Brown Girls Rock for Work in Education

Tina and Trina received the annual Brown Girls Rock award for Education for their work in Arkansas, DC and Africa. They join the ranks of Dr. Sherece West Scantlebury, Tamika Edwards and Toyce Newton of Phoenix Youth Services, Inc. as phenomenal women in education. They are also two of the youngest recipients of the award. 

Success Interview with Dr. Evette Allen

Why Mentoring Matters Panel hosted by The College Board

The College Board, in collaboration with the Catholic University of America (CUA), proposes to serve 110 students from three District of Columbia Public Senior High Schools: one in Ward 7 (Woodson Senior High School) and two in Ward 8 (Anacostia and Ballou Senior High Schools). Students in these wards urgently need the academic enrichment, pre-college counseling, college and career planning, and mentoring services that the College Board Upward Bound program will provide in order to ensure their high school graduation, college enrollment and completion, and career success.

Tina Invited as Guest Speaker for the Xi Zeta Omega ASCEND Program

Tina served as a speaker and guest author for the Xi Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ASCEND Mentoring Program. As a part of the lecture, each student received a copy of Surviving High School: A Teen's Guide to Academic and Social Success. A copy of the book can be purchased in the Store section of the website. 

Collective 100 PAC Retreat

Tina will serve as a panelist and fundraising workshop host for the Collective PAC's annual retreat. The Collective is a political action committee whose mission is to build black political power by supporting candidates and initiatives committed to uplifting the black community. We are strategists, thought leaders and politicos. Some of us are artists and entertainers, tech entrepreneurs and activists. The White House Conference on Inclusive STEM Education for Youth of Color

On Friday, October 28th, the White House Council on Women and Girls,  the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative and the Office of Science and Technology Policy, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Math and Science Initiative will host  an event focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in STEM for youth of color. FES will participate in the discussion.

NCWIT/Google Roundtable on Black Women & Girls in Computing

FES will participate in a NCWIT and Google round table discussion regarding Black Women and Girls in Computing. The event will be held on the Google LAX campus in Venice, CA from Thursday, August 18-20.
